The Chartres Cathedral
The Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Chartres, not to be confused with Notre Dame de Paris, is a cathedral located in the medieval town of Chartres. It is notable for not only being one of the greatest achievements of architecture but also for its almost perfectly preserved condition.

The cathedral’s cycle of portal sculpture remains intact and its stained glass windows are all originals. It was never destroyed or looted during the chaos of the French Revolution and numerous restoration projects have never altered its original design. It became a World Heritage Site in 1979 and it continues to stand today as a testament to the beauty and glory of Gothic art.
