The French Art
Since prehistory, France has been a country rich in artistic traditions. Lascaux in south western France, for example, is the site of many cave paintings done by ancient humans. Some of the most influential and famous artists in history have been French.

Several of these French artists have spearheaded or contributed to a number of art movements that continue to inspire modern artists. Names like Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri Rousseau, Paul Gauguin, and Henri Matisse are known the world over for the priceless pieces of art they have created. France is also the home of the Louvre, perhaps the most famous museum in the entire world.
